The Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office Community Oriented Policing Unit under the leadership of Sheriff
Guadalupe "Lupe" Treviño, provides the rural communities of
Hidalgo County with accessibility to law enforcement presence in high
crime areas. The Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office Community Oriented
Policing Units respond to the needs of Hidalgo County communities
by providing three mobile Sheriff's Substation Offices to meet the needs
of the rural communities within Hidalgo County.
Sheriff Guadalupe "Lupe" Treviño has introduced a new substation every
year since his induction as Sheriff of Hidalgo County. The mobile
substations were a result of the much needed presence to deter crime and
help communities take back their neighborhoods from criminals.
The success of the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office Community Oriented
Policing Unit is attributed to building strong relationships within
the communities across the rural areas of Hidalgo County and providing
community oriented policing education to members of the rural area
communities.
It is through this proactive approach that communities across Hidalgo
County have taken back their neighborhoods and made their communities a
safer and more enjoyable place to live.
Community involvement, is the key to the success of the Hidalgo County Sheriff's
Office Community Oriented Policing Unit.
